Over day To Aswan from Cairo by flight

Experience an unforgettable day in Aswan with Egypt Travel Planning, starting with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Cairo to Cairo International Airport for a domestic flight to Aswan.

Upon arrival at Aswan Airport, a knowledgeable Egypt Travel Planning Egyptologist guide will be waiting for you, holding a sign with your name. Your amazing day includes visits to:

Philae Temple: Dedicated to the goddess Isis, this temple tells the story of one of the most famous Egyptian myths. It narrates how Isis brought her husband back to life, the birth of their son Horus, and the mummification of Osiris. Originally built during the reign of Ptolemy II in Egypt’s Greco-Roman Period, the temple was relocated to the small island of Agilika to save it from floods due to the construction of the High Dam. Notably, obelisks that once stood in front of the temple were removed by British Consul Henry Salt in 1918 and are now in a garden in Dorset, England.

The High Dam: This engineering marvel, a rock-fill dam at the Egypt-Sudan border, protects Egypt from Nile floods. Construction began in 1960, completed in 1968, and the dam was officially inaugurated in 1971. It stands 111 meters high, is 3,830 meters long, and has a base width of 980 meters. The spillway can handle a discharge of 11,000 cubic meters per second.

Unfinished Obelisk: A significant archaeological find, this massive obelisk, still attached to the bedrock, was abandoned due to fractures. It offers insights into how ancient Egyptians quarried hard granite using simple tools. The method of transporting these heavy stones to Cairo, around 500 miles away, remains a mystery.

Enjoy a felucca ride on the River Nile around Aghakhan and Elephantine Islands.

After completing the tour, you will head back to Aswan Airport for your flight to Cairo. A Egypt Travel Planning representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you back to your hotel in Cairo, carrying wonderful memories of Aswan.
